The Anti-Fascist Front has claimed responsibility for the bomb attack at Golden Dawns (Chrysi Avgi) Aspropyrgos office in the early hours of Tuesday morning. Greek police have said the anti-fascist group is not known to security services.
Digital Journal reported extensive damage was caused to the Aspropyrgos office of Golden Dawn earlier this week. Although there were no injuries the bomb attack caused damage to neighboring properties in addition to blasting a huge crater in the targeted office.
According to Reuters the Anti-Fascist Front, a little known group who claim to be affiliated with the Informal Anarchist Federation, issued an Internet statement claiming responsibility for the bomb attack. The statement said: "We decided to hit Golden Dawn's offices because we believe that you have to hit out at fascists first, before they hit you."
The Informal Anarchist Federation has carried out a number of attacks in Europe. The BBCreported they sent parcel bombs to the Greek, Swiss and Chilean embassies in Rome, in addition to a parcel bomb sent to the tax collection office in Rome. Injuries were caused by the parcel bombs. The group also claimed responsibility for the shooting of Roberto Adinolfi, 53, a senior executive of nuclear engineering group Ansaldo Nucleare.
Describing the shooting of Adinolfi, who survived the attack, the anarchist group said: "Despite not liking violent-style rhetoric, it has been with a certain pleasantness that we armed ourselves, with pleasure that we loaded the magazine. Grasping the pistol, choosing and following the target, coordinating mind and hand were necessary steps, the logical consequence of an idea of justice, the risk of a choice and at the same time a confluence of enjoyable sensations."
Golden Dawn have criticised the political silence following the bombing of their office, noting no party made a statement condemning the terrorist act, thus tactically condoning terrorism.
