For release of Abbot Ephraim is in once again on his recommendation, the Prosecutor Panagiotis Mantzounis.The
prosecutor's proposal to the Council requests that the Court of Appeals
lifted the detention of the abbot of the monastery of Vatopedi,
imposing financial security and caveats.The
prosecutor in his address to the relevant Council, insists that after
the apology expressed by Archimandrite Ephrem the case of so-called
"holy exchange" between the State and Vatopedi ... which was opposite to that of the investigating judge Irene Good, which held that the Holy Mountain should be in custody. Mr. Matzounis recommends to the Council Appeals to waive his Ephraim keeping with the imposition of safeguards and caveats. The
same position was expressed to Mr. Mantzounis proposal was made when
the Council was to meet to resolve the dispute with investigating the
case, but a few days ago, when he submitted a request to release the
accused investigatingIn
the coming days the Appeals Council will be asked to consider the
request to replace the temporary detention of Ephraim and will rule on
whether the abbot will remain in jail or not.
