Kim Kardashian insists that her actual personality is nothing like the public perception of her and is using her church attendance and lack of alcohol intake to serve as examples.
Kardashian, 31-year-old reality television star, told media mogul Oprah Winfrey that she is not concerned about people's perception regarding her boyfriend Kanye West's colorful personality since many people misunderstand her.
"I hardly drink, I go to church on Sundays," Kardashian told Winfrey during part two of "Oprah's Next Chapter." "I'm so far removed from my image."
While many remember the reality television star for coming into the spotlight after being featured in a pornographic tape, the reality television star has indeed been spending 2012 in church. Kardashian has been pictured attending services at Life Change Community Church in Agoura Hills, Calif. this year, and even spoke about starting her own Bible Study.
"On [my] way to church with the girls," Kardashian tweeted before attending a service for New Year's in January. "I want to start a bible study group with my friends."
The reality television star took to her Twitter once again before heading to an Easter service last April, when she was criticized for wearing a mini skirt.
"Happy Easter," Kardashian tweeted on the holiday meant to represent the resurrection of Jesus Christ. "Up early today, heading to church with the family, then brunch."
Although Kardashian has been public about her church attendance on holidays, she has also admitted that going to her house of worship has helped her through tough times. After an activist hit the socialite with a flour bomb to protest her animal fur wearing ways, Kardashian admitted that attending church helped her through the ordeal.
"I would be lost if I didn't go to church to reflect back on my whole week," Kardashain wrote on her blog last March.
Still, some have questioned whether or not Kardashian has been genuine in her church attendance. Internet radio host Chris Rosebrough of the show "Fighting for the Faith" devoted a segment to her in March titled, "Kim Kardashian's designer spirituality, is it biblical Christianity?"
"There's a lot of designer spirituality out there that parades as Christianity when it isn't," he said during the show. "Christianity is not the kind of thing that you smorgasbord together for the things you want to craft for your own Beverly Hills style spirituality."
However, Kardashian has maintained that she was taught to give to the church growing up. In a 2011 interview with Piers Morgan, Kardashian spoke about tithing to Life Change Community Church.
"I give 10% away to the church and that's what I was taught," Kardashian told Morgan. "Every year, absolutely."
In an interview with Josh Skinner last year, the Kardashian Matriarch, Kris Jenner, confirmed the family's faith that was passed down to Kim and her sisters.
"Even a family as crazy as ours can have a great relationship with God," Jenner said.
