The sixteenth Annual Los Angeles Greek Festival attracted thousands of Angelenos to experience all things Greek and get a glimpse of its celebrity hosts, Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson, at the grounds of Saint Sophia Cathedral. The 3-day fest started on Friday, September 5 and ended on Sunday, September 7.
The LA Greek Fest not only brought over 13,000 attendees together during the three-day weekend, but also gathered its share of Greek-American celebrities, including Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson who have been honorary co-chairs and MC’s for the last several years.
One of the largest Greek festivals in California, the event takes place at the heart of the Byzantine-Latino Quarter, on the grounds of Saint Sophia Cathedral located at 1324 South Normandie Ave.
Greek-Americans and their guests enjoyed signature dishes like Marinated Rack of Lamb, traditional Gyro Sandwiches right off the rotisserie, Greek Street Fries, Pork and Chicken Skewers right off the grill, Moussaka, Fried Calamari, Grilled Octopus, Sizzling Shrimp Feta, cinnamon and honey puff donuts “Loukoumades”, Baklava, Greek coffee, a Greek Yogurt Bar, and more.
Los Angeles Greek Festival 2014 With the historic and world-famous Saint Sophia Cathedral as backdrop, guests were able to feast on small plates of traditional, homemade Greek dishes, enjoy Greek wines and signature spirits, craft beer, tours of the historic Saint Sophia Cathedral, Greek folk dancing and live music. The LA Greek Fest is a non-profit organization and proceeds benefit the Saint Sophia Cathedral.
