Archimandrite Ioakim (Vasilaku), a
representative of the Alexandria Orthodox Church, has been shot at in
the yard of the George the Victorious Church in Tripoli.
The shots were fired from a nearby building, the church-scientific center Orthodox Encyclopedia reported on its website on Saturday.
Father Ioakim was not hurt.
The George the Victorious Church flock consists of Greeks and citizens of the CIS countries who work in Libya.
The embassies of Greece and Cyprus have issued a protest note to the Libyan government. The Greek Embassy has demanded that the church be provided with police security.
