People are easily influenced to wrong. Although deep inside they
recognize and accept what is good, it is easier to be influenced by
evil, since in this case it is the devil himself who serves as the
canonarch.

The sweet road downhill is easy to find because the model of
temptation is to push God’s creatures sweetly down the hill. Christ has
nobility. He tells us:
“This is the right way; “If any man would come
after Me…” He does not say, “Like it or not, you must come with me.”
The
devil, by contrast, is cheap and deceitful. He will try anything to
trap human beings in his own devices.
God respects human freedom because
He did not create slaves but sons and daughters. Even though God
foreknew the Fall of human nature, He did not create us to be slaves. He
preferred to come and be incarnated and crucified in order to gain
man’s favor and consent. This freedom that God has given us is an
opportunity for going through a sifting process, for coming clean, even
thought the devil can still do a lot of damage. The content of each
heart will come to the open; love will show through.
