Golden Olives, a new Greek restaurant at Xiamen Wanda Plaza, Fujian, Chinais enjoying a brisk business as Chinese are taking to the taste of Greece. The menu includes Greek and Mediterranean salads, meat, olives, feta, pita bread. Pita Gyros are being gobbled up, while customers also love Greek-style stuffed tomatoes and peppers, a Greek way to taste their traditional food, rice.
According to a report in Sunday’s Ethnos, three Greek businessmen, Thomas Karavasilis, Vasilis Babaolos and John Findanides, decided to move to China, given the difficult living conditions in Greek, and offer the Chinese Mediterranean food and culture. The three men have opened two stores in Xiamen, a city of more than 4.5 million people. The restaurant in Wanda Plaza is serving 550-600 customers daily.
