More than 150 local producers will take part in the Christmas Flavors Festival entitled “Greece, Celebration, Flavors” that will take place from the 29th November to the 1st December in Thessaloniki, Greece.
The festival is organized for the second consecutive year by a well-known magazine and aims to gather the best small producers from all over Greece. The guests will have the opportunity to taste cheeses, meats, pasta, olives, spices, jams, beverages, and other unusual flavors of great quality.
“We find excellent products from all over Greece and give them a leading role at the Greek table,” explains the magazine’s head of public relations, Myrto Apalopoulou.
The first event, which was hosted last spring in Gazi, was visited by more than 15,000 citizens. For the festivals’ second year, a larger number of producers will be participating. The festival will also be choosing a region to honor during the yearly event, starting off with Cyclades this year.
In the festival’s “Restaurant” five famous chefs: Lefteris Lazarou , Yannis Loukakos, Ettore Botrini, Yiannis Baxevanis and Dimitris Skarmoutsos wll be inspired by family meals and showcase their own Christmas dishes, which will be offered in small portions for 2.50 euros each. Christmas desserts will be offered in the festival’s “Pastry Shop.”
In the “Wine & Beer Bar” visitors will be able to find some of the best Greek beers produced by several microbreweries and selected Greek wines. Furthermore, the “Cocktail Bar” will offer Greek spirits and wines.
Ms. Apalopoulou states that: “It’s a festival that will evolve into an institution. It’s constantly becoming more popular, something that indicates the public’s need to find quality Greek products and take part in quality gastronomical tastings.”
The festivals’ program will be completed by taste workshops and cooking classes with an emphasis on tradition, such as the creation Christopsomo, ladobaklava, gingerbread houses and “chirosfagia.”
