Batman actor pictured in Ridley Scott's new biblical epic Exodus…

The first official photo of Christian Bale in new movie Exodus has been released.

The image, published in Empire magazine, shows the actor playing prophet and exodus-leader Moses in the Ridley Scott-helmed film - a role made famous by Charlton Heston in the 1956 film The Ten Commandments.

 The movie, written by Steven Zaillian (The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo), also stars Breaking Bad's Aaron Paul, Sigourney Weaver and Ben Kingsley.

Discussing the project in 2012, Scott told Esquire: "What's interesting to me about Moses isn't the big stuff that everybody knows. It's things like his relationship with Ramesses [II, the pharaoh].

"I honestly wasn't paying attention in school when I was told the story of Moses. Some of the details of his life are extraordinary."
The film is due to be released in the UK on 5 December 2014.
