Moscow, - State Duma Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Alexei Pushkov has said he is seriously troubled by the way Christianity is treated in Europe today.
"Christians are being persecuted from the UK to Norway. People are being fired for wearing a crucifix. One can be "overtly gay", but not a Christian," Pushkov said on his Twitter page.
Europe's "tolerance is gradually turning into a moral dictatorship," he said.
"An anti-Christian revolution is sweeping through Europe. There is nothing that they can teach us," he said.
Pushkov offered his comments in response to reports that popular Norwegian TV presenter Sir Kristin Saellmann was dismissed from her job for appearing on air wearing a crucifix.
