BULGARIA: Metropolitan Bishop of Plovdiv Nikolay ready to resign if necessary

Plovdiv -- Metropolitan Bishop of the second biggest Bulgarian city Plovdiv is ready to resign immediately if the Holy Synod of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church demands it. Bishop Nikolay made the remark addressing parishioners in Plovdiv today

In his words, he has been systematically attacked and offended.
He also stated he would not allow misappropriation of EU funds allocated for restoration of churches and monasteries to happen despite being accused of preventing EU funds absoption and development of rural areas.

He also called on the Holy Synod to discuss the reasons for the incessant attacks against the Church and expressed his indignation at being accused of slamming other Metropolitan Bishops across the face in the Holy Synod building.
