From the moment it became known that the McDonell Douglas MD83
aircraft of the company Algeria Airlines crashed, the dominant version
of the cause of the accident was the bad weather, but authorities
haven't ruled out the possibility of a terrorist attack.
This was confirmed by the French Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism, Fleur Pellerin, who said that "according to investigations conducted by the authorities of Burkina Faso and our knowledge as the French side, there are no suspects among people who were on board the aircraft. But, to be sure, we have to wait until it can investigate further".
At the same time, however, the French Interior Minister, Bernard Cazeneuve, argues that there are other possibilities which are discussed: "Since there is no comprehensive survey, no possibility can be excluded. In the area, terrorist groups are active and we know very well that they have hostile feelings towards the West".
