POTTSTOWN--The miraculous myrrh-streaming icon of St. Anna, the mother of Mary, the Virgin, will be brought to Holy Trinity Orthodox Church, 1236 Juniper St., at 4 p.m. today.
Fr. Athanasy, an Orthodox priest, will talk about his experiences with this icon and how he was anointed with the myrrh and subsequently healed of an injury as a young boy. As caretaker of the icon, Fr. Athanasy travels to parishes to share his story and to anoint the faithful with its healing myrrh. There are reports of people having been cured of cancer after being anointed with the myrrh. Those who have seen the icon attest to its sweet fragrance and the myrrh that covers even the box in which the icon is laid.
Fr. Athanasy resides at the Monastery of St. Tikhon of Zadonsk,South Canaan, Pennsylvania, the oldest Orthodox Christian monastery inAmerica,
