Spanish riot police and protesters have clashed in the capital, Madrid, during a demonstration against government policies. At least 3 people have been hurt in clashes outside the Spanish Parliament. The demonstrators held signs that said 'Freedom to protest' and 'People's Party, shame of Spain!' while police and barricades prevented them from getting any closer to the parliament building. According to police, the demonstration turned violent after protesters attacked police cars with sticks.
The protesters, who were outraged about the government’s cutbacks on public services, called for a genuine social democracy in the European country.
