Request for formation of Albanian Orthodox Church in FYRMacedonia is chauvinism, said Bishop Timothy

   

The plan for formation of Albanian Orthodox Church in FYRMacedonia is chauvinistic project. This is what the spokesman of the Synod of the * FYRMacedonian Orthodox Church (FYRMOC) Bishop Timothy said. 

The FYRMacedonian Orthodox Church has commented that it is a nationalistic and chauvinistic project for which there is no reasoned basis.

"This is a political manipulation. We are talking about things that have nothing to do with religion," Bishop Timothy said.

The reaction of the bishop comes after an advisor to the leader of the ruling Albanian Democratic Union for Integration (DUI) Ali Ahmeti said that Albanians in FYRMacedonia will not be satisfied only with worship in Albanian, and with the formation of the Albanian Orthodox Church.


*The FYRMacedonian Orthodox Church or MOC  is a jurisdiction in the  FYRMacedonia which declares itself to be autocephalous. It separated from the Church of Serbia in 1967. Its self-proclaimed autocephaly is not officially recognized by other Orthodox churches, nor is it in communion with any of them.
