MINSK - The reliquary with the Gifts of the Magi will be brought to Belarus on 17 January 2014, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Exarchate.
The relic will stay in the country until 24 January, Metropolitan of Minsk and Slutsk Filaret, Patriarchal Exarch of All Belarus, said at a meeting of the Synod of the Belarusian Orthodox Church.
The reliquary will be brought to Belarus, Russia and Ukraine from the Holy Monastery of St Paul (Holy Mount Athos) with the blessing of Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia.
"In Belarus the reliquary will be available for veneration in the Church of Job the Long-Suffering at the Minsk Charity House," reads the resolution of the Synod of the Belarusian Orthodox Church.
In honor of the upcoming 700th anniversary of the birth of St. Sergius of Radonezh a decision was adopted to build a monument to the Saint in Minsk. The bishops decided to hold a number of events to mark the anniversary.
