On June 3, started the largest pilgrimage route operating every year by the Russian Orthodox in honor of miraculous icon of St. Nicholas.
Pilgrims from the Diocese Viatka region and from across the country and abroad walk 150 miles in 6 days. This year the organizers calculate participants to 33,000. They crossing of agricultural land, forests, canyons and stop at places to send a prayer for miraculous saint and protector of Russia. The procession Velikoretskaia is one of the largest.
The icon was discovered in 1383. A farmer from Agalakov found the icon on the banks of the Grand River near the village Velikoretskaya.
