The Irkutsk Region worked out a project called "St. Innokenty’s Way", that includes a organization of a four-year cultural and educational expedition to the places connected with the name of the prominent religious and public figure of the 19th century.
So, in 2014 the events will take place in the Baikal District, the Amur Region, in 2015 – in Khabarovsk and Kamchatka Districts, in the Chukotka Autonomous District, in 2016 in the Sakhalin Region, Japan, in 2017 – in Alaska, California, Hawaii and the Irkutsk Region.
Besides, celebrations including a prayer service in the Cathedral of Christ the Savior, dedicated to the 220th anniversary of the Siberian and American Apostle St. Innokenty will take place in Moscow in 2017.
St. Innokenty (Veniaminov, 1797-1879), Metropolitan of Moscow and Kolomna, Apostle of Siberia and America made the way from parochial priest in the Irkutsk Diocese to the See of Moscow Enlighteners. He was involved in educational work in Kamchatka, the Aleut Islands, Yakutia and the Far East.
