For the eighth year in a row, Charlotte’s Skyland Restaurant will offer free hot Thanksgiving Day meals – with turkey, tea and all the trimmings – to about 3,000 people who would otherwise go hungry.
The restaurant, owned by Jimmy Kakavitsas, will pass out food boxes to the homeless, to travelers, and to any others from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 4544 South Blvd.
On Wednesday, the chefs stayed busy preparing the food. Blessing the delicious results of their labors was the Rev. Theodore Kyritsis, a Greek Orthodox priest who pastors Saint Simeon Serbian Orthodox Church in Charlotte.
