Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew: Restore the Church to pre-Schism state has never been easy and painless

 

Commitment to the continuation of the dialogue between the Orthodox and the Roman Catholic Church to restore the Church to pre-Schism state expressed yesterday in the Vatican, the Ecumenical Patriarch. 

Mr. Bartholomew was the seat of the Roman Catholic Church to mark the 50 years since the Second Vatican Council. Attended the Liturgy celebrated Pope in St. Peter's Square to mark the start of the "Year of Faith" and talked about what brought to the positive approach of the two Churches Synod. 

"Over the past five decades, the results of this session are visible," said Patriarch speaking of "return to the sources" through functional studies, biblical research and patristic philosophy. 

Reported "... the struggle for liberation from the gradual reduction of rigid scholasticism "noting as steps in the right direction, lifting of the anathemas of 1054, the meetings between delegations of the two Churches, returning etc. 

"Our journey has never been easy and painless," said the Patriarch to fill that desire is a return to the situation of the Church of the first millennium, before the schism between East and West.
