Wikileaks: The Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs together with the U.S. drove Irenaeus to reduce Russian influence in Jerusalem

According to documents of the U.S. State Department , which revealed the site Wikileaks, the  U.S. Ambassador to Athens Charles Ries , and Minister Dora Bakoyannis (pro-American line) asked  King Abdullah of Jordan to sign a recognition of the new Patriarch Theophilos III and put pressure on the Israeli government to recognize him !

The American ambassador , in his note to the State Department , he stated :"The Rokanas requested U.S. assistance because of access that we believed the King. In addition , the Greeks understood that our embassy in Amman had special access to the Jordanian intelligence chief Dhahabi.
Most of us wanted to discuss the situation with King silently . Greeks also asked us to discuss the Israeli failure to recognize Theophilos .The constant argument for the involvement of the U.S. was that the recognition of Theophilos III stifle the growing trend of the Russian Church for hegemony in the Patriarchate and laid out the emerging situation of  Hamas . "It seems that he had set up a " sacred plot 'to build Theophilus III and lose all hope of return to the Patriarchal Throne Irenaeus.

However that " recruited " the U.S. to support Theophilus and even using the argument that this will halt the Russian shows that the Foreign Minister Dora Bakoyannis (pro-American line) had many unknown reasons - what - to " decapitated " the Irenaeus .The fact that in 2008 after the war in Georgia , she (Dora Bakoyannis ) actively sabotaged the Greek- defense agreement , going as far as to ban a Greek officers to go to Moscow.
