Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew expressed his concern over the situation for Christians in the Middle East, stressing that "there is no alternative but dialogue and reconciliation," and inviting all Churches to contribute to peace in the area.

guest at the University of Vienna during an event celebrating the 50th
anniversary of the "Pro Oriente" Foundation, established to improve
relations between the Roman Catholic and Eastern and Oriental Orthodox
Churches.
